Community Acupuncture

At its core, Community Acupuncture is a way of delivering acupuncture to make it more affordable to more people.

This is incredibly important because when acupuncture is too expensive, people either

  • won't even try it and/or

  • don't get the amount of treatments necessary to get good, long-lasting results.

And we think that really stinks.

By practicing Community Acupuncture, our goal is to make it possible for you to get as much acupuncture as you want.

That, in a nutshell, is why we practice Community Acupuncture.

How does going to a Community Acupuncture clinic differ from going to a regular acupuncture office?

As you can probably already tell, we do things a bit differently than most acupuncturists.  Since we don’t subscribe to the status quo there are many ways in which our clinic differs from the typical acupuncture practice.

The Room

Instead of treating patients on tables in individual cubicles, our clinic more closely resembles how acupuncture is traditionally received in Asia - in a community setting.

In our clinic, patients relax in recliners in a large, quiet, soothing space.

Treating patients in a community setting has many benefits: it’s easy for friends and family members to come in for an acupuncture treatment together (as long as you all have appointments, of course); many patients find it comforting; and many attest that a collective energetic field becomes established which actually makes individual treatments more powerful.  If that sounds a bit new-agey for you, think about the compounding effect that having others around has on things like attending a religious service, sporting event or concert.  Or perhaps you’ve participated in a rally, charity walk or a vigil following a tragic event?  It’s kind of like that – a bit indefinable and unexplainable, but there’s undeniably something about being surrounded by, and immersed within your community, that creates an energy which makes the sum of the whole greater than the sum of the individual parts.

Length of Treatment

In most acupuncture offices, the needles are removed after only a few minutes or perhaps, at most, after a half hour, so the room can be prepared for the next patient.  Unfortunately, longer needle times often provide better results and the amount of needle time needed often varies from patient to patient often varying from day to day.  But how do you know how long is needed?

It’s kind of like taking a nap without setting an alarm.  Some days your body wakes up after forty minutes completely refreshed and other days your body needs a couple hours to get what it needs!  In order to ensure that our patients get the maximum effect from their treatment, it’s important to create an environment that allows for that variation and empowers the patients to determine how much time they need.  And we’ve done just that.  By providing a space large enough to house a bunch of recliners, we can allow folks to stay as long as they need to get better faster without having to kick them out to make room for the next patient.

You mean it’s up to me to determine how long my treatment is?  But I’ve never done this before!

It’s not nearly as intimidating as it may sound.  Most people learn after a couple treatments when they feel “done” or “cooked” and it can be as simple as waking up from your nap, feeling fidgety, feeling that you want get going about your day or an urge to use the rest room; this can take anywhere from twenty-five minutes to a couple of hours!  Most patients tend to stay about 45 minutes to an hour and we’ve set up our clinic to give you the time your body needs.

Please note that, like you, our staff have families and obligations outside of their office hours and may need to wake you after 45 to 60 minutes if you’re one of the last few patients of the day.  If you feel that may be a concern, we encourage you to book your appointment accordingly.

low Fees

The going rate for acupuncture in other offices is about $65 or more in Orlando with many charging over $125 per treatment.  Yes, that's pretty expensive as it is, but considering acupuncture is more effective when received more frequently over a short period of time, the costs quickly become extremely prohibitive and a huge barrier for those seeking improvement in their condition.

But don't fret.

Our clinic operates on a sliding scale of $15 - $40 per treatment.  YOU choose how much to pay!  No hidden fees.  No Income verification.  No hassle.  Your treatment will not be impacted by the amount you pay.  As you can see, you can get 4 or more treatments (and don't forget they're longer treatments, by the way) for less than the cost of 1 treatment at a non-community acupuncture office.

Because acupuncture doesn't have to be expensive to be effective.
